OK. I admit I was over-zealous in reporting on the relative positions of CVB websites in a Google search (though you have to admit it matters). After all, who goes to the Internet thinking, "I want to find a good place for our annual conference, so I think I'll type 'CVB' into Google"? No, more important is where the CVB sites show up as a result of searches that might really happen, like "business conference", "business convention", etc.
I'm trying to think like a business representative now, and I'm trying to find a good place for my company's annual conference of sales representatives. I sit at my computer and I type "business conference" into Google and hit "Search". The results aren't helpful at all. They are mostly for somebody else's conference. I want to find descriptions of conference centers and the sights and services that surround them. Aargh!
How bad is it? Where does the first CVB site show up in a Google search for "business conference"? I can't tell you because I only looked at the first 100 results , and there were no CVB sites.
Keep watching this blog for more search results.
